Four weeks and we have about 30% of the upper floor (first or second depending on which side of the Atlantic you're on). The exterior walls will be concrete block while the interior walls will probably be a lighter material. The sun is still shining, just about.
We considered using a lighter material for the exterior walls too but in the end we were told the cost difference was not that great and I am happy we made the decision - the house will look better like this and be stronger, although it is also extra weight on the ground. This theoretically increases the risk of the soil becoming unstable in wet weather. Hopefully with good drainage this should not be an issue. I suspect the cost difference of concrete block compared to lighter materials may actualy be fairly significant. The decision depends more on priorities than budget exactly.
