Day 35: Concrete beam around upper floor

At the beginning of week 6 the house now has a steel reinforced beam around most of the upstairs. And the sun is still shining most days. Hopefully they can get the roof on before the rain comes too heavy and too frequent.

The reasons to be worried about the rain are about the workers and the materials:
  • The rain could mean that the workers have less to do, or in a worst case have to sit around doing nothing.
  • Workers that have nothing to do get bored. And the constructor still has to pay them.
  • The rain could also damage some of the wooden materials used for the flooring and roof.

The point too is that the constructor will have calculated his costs on the basis that he will not be delayed by the rain. And we want him to be right so that he doesn't end up spending more than he planned - the financial risk is his.
