Roofing materials - ceiling

This material (Fibrolit) is for the ceiling of the bedrooms - the lower layer of the roof. It is cement based, semi-waterproof and fairly expensive. There are alternatives for ceiling materials - wood is common - but these may be less waterproof and liable to discolor if the humidity / rain gets to it.

This cement-based plasterboard, or whatever it is called, is best painted before it is nailed to the roof beams - much easier to paint it on the ground than once installed. But you need enough dry weather to avoid getting yourself into a big mess, I think.

The gap between the poored concrete beam and the roof beams has now been filled with more block. This might be what they called "tapicheles" in Spanish, at least that was an item in my budget that seemed like it meant something similar.

Once in place they look something like in the photo below.

Although more waterproof than other materials it's still best to protect them from the rain with something. We used an old billboard banner that just happened to be lying around.

  1. This is attributed to the fact that the concrete roof is nearly horizontal (very slightly sloped), and the wind action easily removes various materials which accumulate on it. roofing contractors oklahoma city
